The blood tests and measurements from the last nuchal translucency ultrasound all came back normal. So there is not a high risk of genetic problems such as Downs. I had more routine lab work at this visit where they measured that same protein in the blood just to get another reading.
Before the doc came in, the nurse did a sonogram to hear the baby's heartbeat. I didn't even know they could do this without the big ultrasound. It was just a little handheld device. She put the cool gel on my tummy and rubbed the little wand over and we heard the heartbeat. 142 beats per minute, the average at this point is anywhere from 120-160. Healthy baby!
The doctor didn't have much to say at this visit since everything is looking normal. My next visit is scheduled for December 5th, this is the big ultrasound where I'll find out if it's a boy or a girl! I cannot wait! Lately I've been feeling like it's a boy (even though I'm hoping for a girl first) and even caught myself referring to it that way a few times! Yesterday Josh said I could have all the deer jerky I wanted if I was going to teach his boy to like it...hey now, we don't know about this 'he' business yet!!!
Here's the 16 week bump shot - it's getting bigger :)

Oh my goodness! You're such a cute, pregnant lady, April! :) I'm glad you're both healthy--whether your little one is a girl....or a boy.... :)
